Camp Magis at Bishop Hodges Pastoral Center, Huttonsville

“Go, do not be afraid, and serve.”

Based on the call of Pope Francis to “Go, do not be afraid, and serve”, Camp Magis exists to help 7th graders

Fall more in love with Jesus Christ and His Church

Be more compelled to:

  • Go out into your community to share the love of Jesus Christ and His Church
  • Be Not Afraid to be who God created you to be in your unique beauty and vocation
  • Serve those in your family, school, church, and community because of the love of Christ

Camp seeks to provide an environment in which our students can grow in their faith and in the call to Christian service. Students will come to understand that the Gospel mandate to serve others:

† Brings the joy of the Gospel to both those who serve and those who are served
† Takes energy and commitment
† Often requires sacrifice and hard work, but is transformational and life-giving
† Reminds us that the Gospel is for everyone
† Means bearing personal witness to the love of God
† Helps us to grow in the ability to love one another, to learn to listen, to be accepting of others with no one excluded
† Is accompanied by the constant presence of Christ, who goes before us and guides us in the effort to authentically live as people of the Gospel

“If you follow these three ideas, you will experience that the one who evangelizes is evangelized; the one who transmits the joy of faith receives joy.”—Pope Francis
